What you see

You should be even further in your book now - almost half-way done. It's now time to write about what you are seeing. 1. What are you seeing in the characters that is connecting you to their stories? 2. What are you seeing in the book using your lens that you didn't see just reading as yourself (this answer should be lengthy and include examples from the text). 3. What are you seeing/learning about yourself as a reader?

Seeing what is important

You have been reading your novel for at least a week now and should be 50-100 pages in. Think about the first 50-100 pages of your novel and answer the following questions: 1. How has your character been described? 2. What is the main character questioning (his/her life, situation, others around him/her, etc.)? 3. What has your assigned lens taught you about the book that you may not have realized simply reading it as yourself? 4. What vocabulary or diction (pieces of the text) has the author or character used that have caused you to judge him/her? How have you judged that character?

The Beginning of Sight

After you have chosen your novel and read the first 1-2 chapters, post your thoughts about the following questions. 1. What is the title of your book? 2. What issues do you have with the characters? 3. What do you think the main character's downfall with be? Why do you think that? 4. What lens (besides your own) are you reading the novel through and how has that affected your understanding or thoughts already?
